What you need to know about Built LMS pricing
How does overage pricing work?
You only pay overage when you exceed your plan's learner limit. Starter: $1.50 per learner over 100. Growth: $1.00 per learner over 500. Administrators and course creators don't count toward your learner limit.
Can I start free and upgrade later?
Yes. The free plan includes 10 learners, 3 courses, and 3 AI course generations per month. Upgrade anytime, all your content carries over. No credit card required to start.
What is Ambient Learning?
Ambient Learning is our proactive intelligence layer (Growth tier and above). It detects when learners are struggling, quiz score regression, repeatedly viewing help content, skipping modules, and automatically surfaces targeted micro-content to get them back on track. It includes auto-generated knowledge graphs, mastery-conditioned search, and analytics to measure intervention impact.
What's included in AI course generation?
Every AI-generated course follows evidence-based instructional patterns grounded in 61+ peer-reviewed studies, including Bloom's Taxonomy, Gagné's 9 Events, and cognitive load theory. Upload your existing materials and the AI builds structured training with practice activities, knowledge checks, and transfer exercises. Free gets 3 generations per month, Starter gets 25 per month, Growth and Enterprise get unlimited.
What's the adaptive assessment engine?
A psychometric layer that improves how accurately we measure mastery. It uses 1-Parameter Logistic Item Response Theory for difficulty calibration, behavioral signals like response time and answer revisions, and confidence-adjusted mastery scoring. It also generates fresh questions per attempt and grades open-ended responses with greater than 95% agreement with human graders. Available in beta on Growth and fully integrated across all assessment surfaces in Enterprise.
Why is SSO included at Starter instead of locked to higher tiers?
We believe companies should be encouraged to use identity providers as a security best practice. Charging extra for SSO is an anti-pattern we refuse to adopt. Every paid plan includes SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
What about SOC 2?
We're a small team, and application-level SOC 2 certification is on our roadmap once our customer base requires it. Today we run on AWS and Vercel infrastructure that holds SOC 2, with AES-256 encryption, GDPR compliance, tenant isolation enforced by 370+ RLS policies, and audit trails on critical operations. If your procurement requires application-level SOC 2 today, we may not be the right fit yet, but talk to us anyway.
Do you offer annual discounts?
Yes. Save approximately 2 months (about 17%) with annual billing on all paid plans, including portal add-ons.
What's a portal and why would I need multiple?
A portal is a completely separate branded learning environment with its own domain, theme, course library, and user base. Use multiple portals to run parallel programs: customer education in one, partner enablement in another, employee training in a third. Each portal has independent branding, content, and SSO. All paid plans include 1 portal, with additional portals at $200 per month or $2,000 per year. Enterprise includes unlimited portals.
